The Packers have waived LB Naashon Hughes
I think we have to assume he worked hard to establish some independence and control. That's pretty evident based on how things turned out.
No, I think they've moved past guys like that. They've upgraded with speed in the secondary and don't need a slow guy. Barclay didn't have much left when he was here.
Punt return guys are more important. I think they like Alexander there, but Quinten Rollins looked pretty good when he did it. And Montgomery can do kickoff returns. But only Alexander has Davis' speed. Davis might have made some questionable decisions, but he had some big returns. He turned the Cleveland game around for the Packers.
As most predicted, he's a work in progress. I don't know how much he'll be playing. From what I read, he hasn't been dominant. But I don't think anyone thought he would be right away.
No, I don't see an advantage, but I applaud them doing that for the players.
@Snake - I don't think you want those guys back there. I'd be leery of using Alexander all the time, too.
This is an issue that has plagued Kumerow since 2015: He's not really able to play special teams. He has to learn to cover, and the new rules might allow him to be more effective, but he's not a returner.
I didn't see what Bob wrote. And who said I'm taking credit. I report off my own sources. Go to his live blog if you aren't satisfied here. Geez.
Ryan Wood just confirmed that CB Josh Hawkins has been released.
Haven't heard anything. If Devante Mays is healthy they could just stick with him. But running backs can come available who can help you.
Nothing really. All very basic and expected.
No, I didn't have Hawkins on the 53. I went with Goodson ahead of him.
Yancey for sure. Maybe Hughes.
There's a chance. It probably depends on Mays' health.
I disagree about Fangio. He was the DC of those great 49ers teams. McCarthy was very interested in bringing him to GB this past off-season. They have the makings of a dominant defense with Floyd and Mack outside and Eddie Goldman inside and Roquan Smith at inside linebacker.
