I don't think so. Ultimately it comes down to talent. They need Matthews and Perry to be healthy. Perry is an impact player when he's healthy. Matthews can still play, he's just not as dynamic as he once was. They're going to need contribution from Wilkerson and Montravius Adams. Those are the areas where they can make the most improvement.

Comparing a rookie who has never played a NFL snap to an all-time bust or an all-time great seems premature. Could we give Alexander a chance before insulting him as Ahmad Carrol?

I would have loved Edwards as the pick, but I'll take Alexander and the Saints 1st next year every time.

@SeaDog Good point. There is always a plan. It doesn't always work out, but we still have a ton of picks, so lets see this play out.

So we moved back four spots, gave up a third and got two fifths and a first next year? That’s some pretty amazing draft capital gain. Maybe Brees gets hurt and Saints pick ends up in the top ten. Who knows? Good trade even though it was hard to watch them leave Edmunds and James on the board.

I'm still mad they passed up TJ Watt last year, ha! As much as they've missed on DB's would have liked to see them take a chance on a pass rusher.

Tom, what is interesting about the way Gute has played this is -- he's clearly not in a WIN NOW mentality. Trading for a 1st rounder next year says as much.

I think if you get offered a first next year to go back 13 slots, you have to do it no matter what mode you're in. Difference in talent is just not that great.

Darrell Revis is only an inch taller and ran the same 40 time. So it looks like he falls somewhere between Revis and Ahmad Carroll.

I really am excited what BG has done. I love how he is twisting other teams up to get other great picks. Another 1st rounder next year, 1st pick in round 4-5. We got a corner Mayak thought was a good pick, and so did dip wad Herby. Anyway the jest of this is, these guys do it 365 days a year.versus the arm chair GM. I love the ones that say Arodge should

Tom, Alexander ran the fastest 20 yard shuttle in the combine. A blazing 3.98. How important is that in the slot?

Huge. Kevin King had those kind of numbers. Fastest short shuttle at the combine. It showed in the way he could close on ball carriers. He turned out to be a much better tackler than I thought.

If Alexander plays well the front office earned thier Props. If James or Edmunds become perennial pro bowlers then they earned our scorn. Unfortunately it still comes across as not taking a shot at greatness. Not sure that is the message you want to continually deliver to your team. Just remember they get paid to make these decisions. I hope they were right.
