Sure, like winning a Super Bowl, which they've done. Like winning two Super Bowls, which they might do. If they never get back to the Super Bowl, it will be a failure on the organization. And maybe they would've reached the Super Bowl this year. Maybe. But their Super Bowl chance ended the moment Anthony Barr landed on Aaron Rodgers. To fire Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy because of it is not rational thinking.
I don't think you have any idea how good the Packers secondary is or isn't with their lack of pass rush. And Taysom Hill wasn't saving this season.
Actually, their chances are better on hitting in the top 10 of the draft. It's a lot different than drafting in the late 20s.
No, getting the best draft pick you can is not a bad move long term, especially when you know your Super Bowl chances are zilch. As for playing the backups, a time is going to come this season where the most important thing is developing the Packers' youth. They're probably not there yet, but getting close.
He's easily the best player I've ever covered.
Ha. That's a great point, actually.
He's the only GM I've covered, so that could technically be true in a sense.
Absolutely not on the quarterback. They need to go high on the edge rush, maybe receiver/tight end, offensive tackle. Wouldn't hurt if they like another corner. But I think their 2018 draft could be like 2015, when they doubled up at one position with first and second picks. Only in this case, they could double up at edge rush. If they do, better hope those picks hit more than 2015 did.
No, Tom Brady is in my opinion the best quarterback to ever play the game, and probably the best player.
OK, time to go today. Will be back next Monday to field questions on whether the Packers should fire Ted Thompson and Mike McCarhty. Until then, take care everyone. Have a very happy Thanksgiving.
