Hello everyone, welcome to the JSOnline and PackersNews.com regular-season opener of the live blog!
I've off to a bad start. I just spilled my soda all over the place.
Back to the Bulaga question, its hard to say how long it will last. Obviously, he tried to go this week but it didn't work. The Packers are in this for the long haul so I would assume they weren't going to push it too hard. They don't want it to be a season-long thing.
You would think so, but I wouldn't bet on it. McCarthy is never one to play it safe offensively. My guess is he'll try to spread out Seattle and run on them that way. Try to get Montgomery some one-on-ones with defensive backs and see if he can get him into the secondary.
Not really. There are a lot of games that are going to be closer than thought. First games are always a toss up because teams are showing stuff for the first time and still finding themselves. So, nothing in Week 1 is surprising.
Um, I would say very, very far.
I don't have my soda, that's for sure.
Not really. Rawls was the only question mark and there were a lot of reports that he was not likely to play.
Let's hope the game doesn't last 11 hours!
Yes, I would think they'd almost certainly defer.
We boiled water yesterday for the first time in three months!
They could have, but they didn't want to mess around with the weight thing anymore. They like Montgomery and felt it was a strong year in the draft for running backs. So, now we'll see if they played it right.
Here's what I think we'll see a lot of: bunch formations to try to get Seattle into man-to-man coverage. Chips from the running backs. Lots of running out of spread formations. Deep balls every time Seattle tries to blitz. Lots of Bennett split out to draw Kam Chancellor out of the box.
I think it's the Lions. I've seen a lot of "experts" say the Vikings are going to be the surprise team, but I still think the Lions are better.
I think it will be a lot of Burnett, but one thing to look for, is the Seahawks going double tight end and trying to keep Burnett away from the line of scrimmage. The Packers aren't going to play a lot of Burnett at ILB if Seattle is in power run formations.
