Hi everyone. I'll be starting the blog a little early today. I should be going at 3 p.m. See you then.
Hey all, let's officially get started. I am deep in the corner of the end zone on the right side if you're facing the Cowboys bench. I've got a good view of the field, but dang we're far away.
He's got a concussion. You can't play if you're still in the concussion protocol.
Yes it is. The weather kind of stinks outside, so I'm not sure if that cut down on activities. It's very foggy, but still pleasant compared to what we're used to. It's loud inside the building, but the seats are about a fifth full.
Practicing is part of the protocol. Before they allow you to play, you have to practice to see how you react to any contact. It's a gradual process. We don't know for sure if this is concussion related or coaches' decision, but I would bet he wasn't cleared.
I think they're healthy and will be able to use the homefield advantage to get some pressure on Rodgers. It will come down to how the line protects and how nifty Rodgers is. I think Montgomery is going to be an X factor today. I think you'll see him in the backfield and at receiver today.
He aggravated that knee injury that sidelined him for so long.
I don't get to travel with them. I'm back in the last row, in the middle, of a commercial flight.
I pick 'em like I see 'em. I'm neither on board nor off board. I'm just traveling at my own pace.
Stopping Elliott will be a key, of course, and the Packers haven't played great run defense. Not having Nelson is going to hurt. The rest factor is huge for the Cowboys. They are fresh and healthy. There's a few.
Actually, the line has been moving all over the place. It started out at 4, but after it was announced Nelson would not play, it jumped as high as 5.5. I think people are betting it down and it's around 4.5 now.
It's a huge deal. The guy led the NFL in TD receptions. He's Rodgers' favorite receiver. The only thing I will say is that Nelson hasn't been a factor in recent Cowboys games. He didn't play well in Week 6 and he only had two catches for 22 yards in the playoff game two years ago.
Dallas will have had time to prepare for Nelson not being there. The Giants didn't. Plus, the Giants lost DRC early in the game and that hurt them a lot. Dallas will probably try to take out Cook. That's my guess. They will try to make Adams, Cobb and Geronimo beat them.
Kind of depends on what Dallas does. I think normally we'd see more Martinez than normal, but he's so bad against play-action I'm not sure that they might just go with Joe Thomas. I can't see them going with Burnett there. Not with that offensive line. I do expect to see Burnett near the line of scrimmage all game.
McCarthy said this week that he hasn't made progress coming back from his concussion. You just don't know with those things. Too hard to predict.
It's 60 degrees outside, BTW. It's 72 inside the stadium.
It's a possibility. I didn't see it a lot in practice, but then we only get to see a small portion. We might see Matthews working on Doug Free on the Cowboys' right side. That's a far better matchup than Tyron Smith.
That's my belief. He's going to double Bryant all day long and let Burnett cover Witten. Burnett will play near the line but he's going to have to stick on Witten. The other option is that he just plays a lot of zone and has his corners facing the play so that they can support the run.
