Good morning everybody, welcome to the JSOnline and PackersNews live blog of the Packers-Falcons game at Lambeau Field.
Yeah, kind of quiet. A slept through the entire week, which must be why I feel like a zombie today.
I expect them to compete hard, but those loses on the line are devastating. The one thing I'm looking for is to see how Philbin handles. McCarthy probably would have let them sink or swim on their own. Philbin might max protect more and run the ball. We'll see.
These guys are playing for their jobs next year. They're playing for the next coach. If they don't realize that and take the afternoon off, they're going to pay the price down the line.
I think so. But what if they win the next four, make the playoffs and win two games? What would you do then? You'd have to think about it.
If he's willing to throw checkdowns and hand the ball off.
Nothing dynamic. Maybe some more bunch formations and quick routes. More patience on offense and a few more runs.
I can't discount everything he said. He was there. He's a McCarthy guy, but I think there's some truth to what he is saying.
I'll leave that up to you. I just cover 'em.
I'm not behind the scenes, but from what we've heard and seen, he's had a couple of interviews but never hired for either head coach or defensive coordinator jobs. That's about all I can go on.
Yes. If they have a chance to win, he owes it to his teammates, especially based on the way he's been playing.
I would say the national media has made Rodgers into a god and McCarthy the villain. That is a proper assessment. I do believe both men bear responsibility for what has happened this season.
I think the defense will continue to play hard. I don't see why the offense wouldn't, but it might appear that they're not because they're playing with three backup linemen. The offense could be a mess today.
If I were him, I'd be on the beach in the Bahamas as far away from a TV and my phone as possible.
They expected to make the playoffs. They thought the team has underacheived. That's what I got from their press conference. But I think there's more they're not saying. Things about how the disconnect between quarterback and coach had grown.
We've heard Rodgers talk about how personally, he and McCarthy were doing great. No differences. But one thing he's never said is that professionally they've been getting along. They have two very different ways of seeing this offense and I think that became a wedge.
I don't know. That's something we'll probably find more about after the season. Most of those guys are McCarthy guys with experience in his offense, so I don't think there is too much of a problem.
Weather today is 25 degrees, wind from the S-SW at 10 mph, wind chill is 15 degrees. The sun is out, however.
Play to win with an eye on giving a few guys a few extra snaps. There really aren't any rookies who haven't had a chance to play. They've played their most promising young guys.
I know Bulaga wouldn't have played. Bell probabaly not either. I'm not sure about Taylor since he played last week. But I could see that the injury tightened up on him.
