Browns GM John Dorsey asked about challenge of selling free agents on Cleveland, says he doesn’t expect it to be difficult. As an example, Dorsey points to recruiting Alonzo Highsmith and Eliot Wolf to his front office, says it wasn’t a tough sell with former #Packers executives.
If #Packers playoff streak had to end at some point, they picked a good year. A QB-rich draft means their No. 14 overall pick effectively is a top-10 selection. And there’s an outside chance they could grab a top-5 defensive player. Here’s why: ift.tt/2F95KRe?amp=1
#Packers seem to be aggressively exploring TE draft class. Indiana’s Ian Thomas, a good athlete who modeled his game off Jimmy Graham, says he’s expecting formal interview with GB tonight at NFL scouting combine.
#Packers say they “believe in” Brett Hundley, but they’re also exploring the QB draft class here in Indy at the NFL scouting combine. Because nothing motivates more than healthy competition. amp.packersnews.com/amp/389947002#…
That 4.53 40 from Josh Sweat (6-4 3/4, 251) is nuts, but his 1.55 10 split might be even more impressive. Just .06 seconds behind Clay Matthews' 10-yard split coming out of USC in 2009. That's some kind of burst. Could see him moving into first-round territory on mocks.
Florida State safety Derwin James says he had a formal interview with #Packers while at the combine. He said they discussed being versatile on back end, including his ability to blitz as a slot corner. Another example of how GB could get creative trying to upgrade pass rush.
#Packers using one of their formal interviews on Ohio State CB Denzel Ward, he said. Hard to see likely top CB in the class being available when GB is on the clock, but doesn’t take much to slip to 14.
Those guys who could be all-pros with more time to develop could also wash out. It’s going to be so tough for GMs picking edge rushers this spring. Not all of them will bust. Not all will boom either. twitter.com/layedyoudown/s…
