Thompson is definitely not messing around with his defense.
Capers has to be a happy man.
I'm really interested to hear where they intend to play him and what they think he can do in their defense.
At 6-4, 245, he fits the mold of a 3-4 linebacker. Some think he might be more of an outside 4-3 linebacker, but we will see.
I think he should be, but I'm in the minority with that. I think we'll see him there more often this year.
We should be getting Biegel on a conference call shortly.
Lawson has serious injury issues. Biegel has been healthy except for a foot injury that kept him out in
Alonzo Highsmith up to talk about Biegel.
Highsmith on Biegel: Everybody knows who he is and what he represents.
Highsmith on Biegel: He played next to T.J. Watt, but I thought he had his own identity. Very durable player. He does a lot of good things.
Highsmith on Biegel: He's versatile. He can play different positions.
Highsmith: I think he has a knack for playing quarterback. I think he has speed and tenacity.
Highsmith on Biegel: When I visited Pro Day, I was impressed with his versatility. He was flexible. Went about business in the right way.
Highsmith: I've always watched how guys approach the game, how they approach the workouts. Was very impressed with him at workout.
Highsmith: I think you start him at outside linebacker and go from there.
Highsmith: I thought he would go higher than where we got him. I'm glad he fell to us. I hope he has a great career here.
HIghsmith on RBs: If there's one that's there that we like we'll take one. But we'll let the board fall the way it does. We'd love to have a guy who comes in as a horse, but they're hard to find.
Highsmith on trades with 4th: When you own the first pick in the round you get a lot of offers. But I think Ted really liked this kid, Ted wanted to take this kid. Winston Moss is happy about him. Coach McCarthy is happy about him.
Biegel: I had a lot of contact with them. I knew they needed an outside linebacker. I'm excited.
Biegel: I feel like I try to be a professional on the field and off the field. I try to be the smartest football player I can be. Not just understanding what I have to do but what others do on the defense.
Biegel: I had a nice draft party here last night and obviously my name wasn't called. One thing is I'm a religious guy and I trust the process. I wake up this morning and there's 3 minutes left on the Packers' pick and all of a sudden my phone blows up with a call from Green Bay.
Biegel as a pass rusher: If there's an area for improvement it's as a pass rusher, but I think it's a strength in my game. I'll learn from guys like Clay. I'm eager to play. I have a lot of respect for Dom Capers. Wherever they need me I'm excited to help out.
He's 22 years old. Who gets up before noon on a Saturday when you're 22.
Yeah, it's time for them to take a back, but if they can get a pass rusher, they need to do that, too.
I would think it could be one of those two.
By handing in a card that said Vince Biegel.
