Don't know. He'll be competing with this guy for a job.
It's a good year for corners and I think Thompson is trying to take advantage of that in addition to adding speed and size. No question that Falcons game really exposed their lack of speed in the secondary.
Could be. He's much faster. I doubt he's more instinctive though.
You're always building for the future. Any draft choice is someone who can help you the most later.
Gutekunst on Jones: Really explosive. Shows coverage ability too, Really versatile. 6-1 1/2, 220, 4.4, that's impressive. You see it on tape
Gutekunst: This guy just jumps off the tape. Bigger and faster is how we're always headed. Way the game is going. Don't want to get outflank
Gutekunst on expectations: We have some good players here. They're going to have to earn their way.
Gutekunst: His ability to cover WRs, backs, TEs, that was absolutely (part of it). He's a very good tackler in space and the box.
Gutekunst: With Josh, versatility is the exciting thing for us. He can do so many things.
Gutenkunst asked about what his secondary looks like compared to an hour ago: "Taller."
Gutekunst on Randall and Rollins: I look at it as competition.
He's a big guy who can run and play multiple positions. The way that Capers moves guys around, that's huge. That's what they wanted to do with Sean Richardson a year or so ago. They want a guy who's big enough come down to the box and blitz or play the run or cover a tight end. I think this guy is intriguing.
Not unless he just goes into the tank this year. He better respond to competition because there's going to be a lot of it.
Here's Josh Jones on a conference call:
Josh Jones: I'm in Atlanta with family. I was just waiting patiently and waiting for my name to be called. I was so filled with joy. I just dropped to my knees and had to give thanks to the Lord. I'm so happy.
Jones: With this draft so many crazy things have happened. I had a meeting with them at the combine, but I wasn't expecting anything. Cowboys were up and I got a call from Green Bay. I just jumped to my feet.
Jones: I can do whatever. I'm very versatile. I have great size to play in the box, great feet to play deep. I'm looking forward to working when I get there.
Jones: My best football is ahead of me. I feel like I'm a great football player. I'm going to continue to grind away. I want to work with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, pick his brains. I've been watching Ha Ha a lot. I watched his highlights a lot before this fall. Him playing so great, I'm so excited to play with a guy like that.
